Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Saturday has said that Goa Forward party has not been floated to target the Congress, but lamented that the Congress leadership in Fatorda has now begun to act as a 'B' team of the BJP.

Addressing the media on the sideline of the function held by Goa Forward to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Madel, Vijai said that he has no problem if the Congress leadership is out to revive the party by appointing dozens of office bearers.

“I am not worried that the Congress is on the mission to revive itself in Fatorda. But, it is sad that many of the people who have been inducted into the block Committee were 'BJP package' candidates in the municipal poll. Some of them were perceived as political garbage and it is heartening to note that many of them were rejected by the people of Fatorda in the municipal poll as political garbage. But, it is surprising that this political garbage has suddenly become gold for the Congress," he said.

Asserting that the BJP has outsourced their political garbage to the Congress, Vijai dared the Congress and BJP to announce that they both are in an alliance in Fatorda.

“In other parts of the state, we will like to work with the Congress, but here in Fatorda, the Congress leadership is targeting me. They seem to have no political mind. They are ready to sell themselves for the BJP and are willing to be bought by the BJP to act as the 'B' team of the BJP,” he said.

Pointing out that many Congress MLAs do not agree with the way the Congress leadership is targetting him in Fatorda, Vijai said these legislators are aware of the damage he can do for the Congress in other parts of the state, but hastened to add that he does not believe in tit-for-tat politics.

Earlier, the Fatorda MLA, Margao Municipal Chairperson Babita Angle Prabhudesai, councillors and citizens of Madel paid floral tributes to the Father of the Nation on his death anniversary.
