Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Shantaram Naik on Monday said that the credit for withdrawal of the strike by the taxi operators goes to the Congress Party.
Addressing media persons, Naik said, “It is because of the role played by the Congress Party that the CM has acceded to the demands of taxi operators. However, in order to give the BJP credit, CM Manohar Parrikar met the delegation of taxi operators led by Dy Speaker Michael Lobo and announced the acceptance of certain demands.”
Naik informed that he will advise the Congress Legislature Party to get a resolution passed in its meeting and also advise to move a Private Members’ Bill to amend the Motor Vehicles’ Act in the upcoming budget session of the Assembly. He also suggested that if required by the CLP, he would draft the resolution as well as the bill himself.
“It is really strange that instead of conveying the message of acceptance of demands through any functionary of the BJP, CM preferred to meet the Dy Speaker, disregarding the neutral role he is expected to perform,” said Naik.
