Pointing out that a month after the untimely death of Januz Gonsalves, there was still no sign of an ambulance in the Primary Health Center (PHC) at Aldona, the Congress gave the government two more days within which to make the same available.
“The 108 service is an existing service in Goa,” said Amarnath Panjikar, spokesperson for the Congress. “The Health Minister needs to answer how not one ambulances has been stationed at the Aldona PHC,” he said.
Reminding that Januz’s family had a month ago asked for an emergency room at the Aldona PHC so that no one else would meet the same fate, the party pointed out that the Health Minister had been quick to promise, but there was no sign of any concrete action.
Said Panjikar, “The work for the emergency room has started, but we do not know when it will be complete. It can’t take one month to provide these emergency services, when the CM has an ICU set up in his house.”
The party said that even if the emergency center takes some more time, the Aldona Block of the party demands that the ambulance service starts in two days, or sooner.
