Cong demands letter to Centre over beef

The State Congress party has demanded that the ruling government write to the Centre opposing the newly-released rules prohibiting the sale of cattle for slaughter at village fairs under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Addressing a press conference, Congress spokesperson Yatish Naik pointed out that on one hand the BJP is admitting that there is anxiety in the minds of the people of Goa, but on the other hand they are doing nothing about it.   
“Beef is a crucial ingredient in Goa’s cuisine. Everybody has a choice to eat, dress and speak the language they want. The minister of state in the Modi cabinet (Shripad Naik) has admitted that there is anxiety in Goa over beef. Has the Goa government opposed it?” Naik asked.   TGN
