However, Cumbharjua BJP Mandal said it has not been formally informed by the Party about Madkaikar joining. Madkaikar is expected to be BJP’s candidate in Cumbharjua.
Speaking to The Goan, Madkaikar said, “I have decided to join the BJP on December 22. Additionally, nearly a hundred of my supporters will join BJP along with me.”
When contacted, Cumbharjua Mandal President Siddhesh Naik, who too is expecting to be BJP’s candidate, said the Mandal has not been informed about Madkaikar joining the party.
“We had strongly opposed Madkaikar’s entry. We were told that before taking a final decision, we would be told about it. But we have still not been informed”, he said.
Last month, the core committee members of BJP had a meeting with workers of Cumbharjua constituency, who had strongly opposed Madkaikar's entry.

MGP rules out alliance
talks with Gadkari
PANAJI: MGP has ruled out alliance talks with Union Minister and BJP’s election in-charge Nitin Gadkari, who will be in Goa from December 20-22.
“We had agreed to a pre-poll alliance with BJP in 2012. We have kept our word. We will continue to extend support to this government. But once the election code of conduct comes into force, we will reveal all the decisions taken by our Central Committee”, said MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar.
Asked if they would hold any talks with Gadkari, he said, “There is no question of holding talks. We have made all preparations to go alone.
Commenting on whether they would forge an alliance with Goa Suraksha Manch, he said, “Many political parties are with us. They are just waiting for elections to be announced.”
