Cong leaders protest arrest of party leaders

Congress leaders and workers on Friday protested at the Lohia Maidan in Margao over the arrest of party leaders, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, in Uttar Pradesh when they were protesting against the Hathras gang rape.

GPCC President Girish Chodankar has condemned the manhandling and arrest of Rahul Gandhi when he, along with Priyanka, was on the way to Hathras to meet the family of the rape victim.

“Sharing grief is a crime in India. The voice of the outraged nation can't be suppressed in a high-handed manner,” said Chodankar.

MARGAOPresident of All Goa Bakers and Confectioners Association Peter Fernandes has lamented that their traditional occupation was facing a host of problems for want of government support.On Friday, the bakers celebrated International Bakers Day by offering Mass at the Holy Spirit Church, Margao.Holy Spirit Parish Priest Fr Amandio Valladares blessed the bread offered by the President of the All Goa Bakers and Confectioners Association.
