MAPUSA
NCP candidate for Mapusa by-election, Sanjay Barde on Friday said there was no opposition to BJP in Mapusa and challenged Congress candidate Sudhir Kandolkar to speak against former chief minister Manohar Parrikar or the current Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
“The Congress candidate will not say anything against the BJP or its leaders. Congress has imported a candidate, who if elected, will crossover the very next day. Congress is not a worthy opposition to BJP in Mapusa,” Barde said.
The NCP candidate was speaking after the inauguration of his election office in Khorlim-Mapusa. State NCP General Secretary Anil Jolapure and other supporters were also present.
The party’s manifesto for Mapusa was also released on the occasion.
Speaking further, Barde said Kandolkar has been a councillor and ardent supporter of the former deputy chief minister for more than two decades, but failed to do anything for the Mapusa city.
“The Congress candidate is not interested in development. His interest is on people’s agricultural land in Mapusa,” he alleged.
NCP State General Secretary Anil Jolapure said Barde has been taking up public issues in Mapusa and expected him to win the by-polls.
