Perhaps for the first since the demand for change in GPCC leadership hit the Congress party, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Friday pointed out that the Congress workers have brought to the notice of the party observers to remove incumbent GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar and put somebody who can take the flag of the party forward.
“All the Congress workers, who love the party, have brought to the notice of the party observers that this man (referring to Girish) has never won an election, during whose period the party have lost elections and those who were with the party have also run away, he said, adding “the workers have told the party leadership to please remove him and put somebody in his place who can take the flag of the party forward”.
The South Goa MP parried a question whether the party will forge alliances with like-minded parties, including Goa Forward party, saying these questions will be decided at the right time.
He, however, commented on NCP MLA Churchill Alemao’s call for unity of like-minded parties to fight the 2022 Assembly polls, saying the media should ask Churchill which party does he consider secular and communal. “Churchill is sitting on BJP’s lap on the pretext of development. When one says this party is communal, you have to go with the secular parties. Let Churchill say which parties are communal and secular”, he said.
The MP also demanded revocation of the NSA from South Goa saying you cannot hold a public hearing by keeping the NSA sword on the heads of the participants.
He also demanded that the CZMP hearing process should be held in the villages to make it more participatory and facilitate maximum number of people to participate in the hearing.
While saying that the government work on COVID vaccination is okay, Sardinha, however, demanded opening of more centres so that the vaccination exercise reaches to the far corners of the state.
He also demanded restoration of the damaged roads in Colva village which were dug up for laying the underground sewage line.
