Congress leaders on Saturday slammed the BJP leadership for targetting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and charged the ruling party for imposing undeclared emergency in the country.
Addressing the media, Congress leader Capt. Viriato Fernandes said the party leadership is weighing various options before Rahul Gandhi and is devising strategy how to go about the conviction by the Gujarat Court in the defamation case.
“There is an undeclared emergency in the country. Hitler had proved to be a disaster in Germany. The same history is repeating in India”, he said.
Defending Rahul Gandhi’s statements on the very existence of democracy in the country, Capt Viriato said those who question and oppose the government have to face probes by the CBI, ED et al.
“There have been instances of interference in the judiciary. This government has to go home if democracy has to survive in the country”, he said.
Saying the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and corporate Adani is open and clear, he said the time has come for the people to throw out 'Modani' to save the country from destruction.
Congress leader Moreno Rebelo said Rahul Gandhi might face the same fate like that of his grandmother Indira Gandhi and father Rajiv Gandhi, who were assassinated, unless the people rally behind the Congress leader.
He said attempts by the ruling government to hand over major infrastructure such as railways and ports to one person can be detrimental to the country.
“If people of India do not rally behind Rahul Gandhi, the country would see bad days in the future”, he said.
Congress South Goa district President Savio D’Silva gave a call to the people to rally behind and support Rahul Gandhi and to save democracy in the country.
