Goa Congress General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar on Sunday said that he suspects a conspiracy in the incident wherein Goa Tourism Department posted an insulting tweet about Maratha warriors and rulers. Panjikar has demanded a probe into the incident while voicing his suspicion that the incident was staged to allow back-door-entry to a certain public relations agency into the Tourism Department.
“The tweet of the Tourism Department terming Maratha rulers as ‘invaders’ was a deliberate conspiracy to give back door entry to a PR agency and facilitate ‘Mission 30% Commission’ of Tourism Minister Manohar Babu Ajgaonkar,” Panjikar charged.
Congress has warned of keeping a close watch on the actions of the government. The party claimed to be in possession of authentic information that wheels were set in motion to engage a PR agency with an annual payment of Rs 1.5 crore per year on the condition of a hefty commission to the minister.
Panjikar dared the Tourism Minister to reveal the name of the project agency, name of the person on whom action is taken and produce documentary evidence to prove that said project agency and the said employee were actually asked by the Tourism Department to handle social media.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that Goa Tourism Development Corporation has discontinued the services of the official in uploading social media posts on its official handles.
