Cong warned against dumping outside candidate in Cuncolim

MARGAO
Former Cuncolim Municipal Council Chairperson Ramesh Desai has come out openly in support of a local candidate from Cuncolim constituency for the 2022 Assembly election.

Coming out strongly in favour of a candidate hailing from Cuncolim constituency, the former CMC Chairperson said that Cuncolim has good loaders to represent the constituency. He said people of Cuncolim do not require any outsider to represent them in the Legislative Assembly.

Against the backdrop of the entry of Goa Forward leader Yuri Alemao in the Congress party, reports indicate that a group of Cuncolim citizens had come under a common banner to ensure that political parties field only a candidate hailing from the constituency.

In fact, a group of citizens had recently started a public campaign by displaying banners with faces of prominent leaders from Cuncolim who were tipped to be candidates from different parties.

Dessai warned the Congress as well as other political parties against any move to dump a candidate from outside the constituency in Cuncolim.

Directing his ire against the admission of Yuri Alemao into the Congress from the Goa Forward, Dessai said that it appeared that Congress had still not learned its lessons.
