The youth wing of Congress, National Student Union of India (NSUI), fried and sold pakoras outside the venue of the Swayampurna Yuva programme to highlight the rising unemployment graph in the State and demanded a white paper on the number of jobs dished out by the government thus far.
The NSUI claimed that the BJP State government had failed to keep up its promise of providing 10,000 jobs to local youth.
State NSUI President Naushad Choudhary said they were protesting against the government which has failed to keep its promises and also condemn the administration run by the CM who has failed to fulfil his promise of providing jobs to the youth.
“The government says 8,000 jobs have been advertised and around 1,000 youth have been recruited. I challenge the CM to come out with a white paper on the number of youth that are recruited in the State. Posts advertised for FDA, police constables and PSI are still pending and vacancies are there in many departments but are yet to be advertised,” Choudhary said.
“The government has failed to provide jobs to youth as the government has no vision,” he added.
According to the North Goa Congress District President Vijay Bhike, the government has set up such job fair boards at various places.
“This is nothing but an election strategy and people as well as students should not fall prey to it,” Bhike said.
