Congress counts failures of BJP-govt in its chargesheet

The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Monday released a 25-point document accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on issues ranging from mining, casinos and medium of instruction (MoI).

Releasing the six-page document, GPCC called it a chargesheet and listed 25 cases wherein the state government changed its position and stand since the 2012 Assembly elections. The release of the chargesheet comes months before the 2017 State polls.
Party president Luizinho Faleiro said the charge sheet would be distributed to households based on which a party manifesto would be prepared. “Since coming to power, the only thing people have seen is betrayal of faith and trust in the BJP government. There was no need for a chargesheet to point to their betrayals but we needed to point out in the easiest way possible,” he said adding that the document was initially 100-page but subsequently had to be shortened.
Faleiro said the party had lost hope in the government machinery and would send the charge sheet to every house in the State to facilitate the residents in taking decisions on their own. A decision, he hoped would reflect in removing the BJP from power.
Though only Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and opposition leader MLA Pratapsing Rane from the current legislature were present for the release of the ‘chargesheet’, Faleiro said the focus was on promoting and encouraging young faces in the party.
Speaking at the launch of the charge sheet, ex MLA Ramakant Khalap pointed out to the special status promise made by the BJP before the 2012 elections. “They had at the time said special status was not to get more money but to save land for Goans. But in the last four and half years, so much land has been sold to outsiders. What special status is this?” he said.
In the charge sheet, Congress points to how the BJP had promised 50,000 jobs to the Goan youth but had rendered the promise hollow
