MAPUSA
Claiming that the re-auction of shops at Mapusa municipal market was illegal, Congress workers said the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) was trying to handover shops to outsiders by re-auction and demanded that MMC immediately withdraw its decision.
Congress party workers led by North Goa Congress president Vijay Bhike visited MMC Chief Officer Clenn Madeira and demanded to revoke re-auction of municipal shops. Speaking to the reporters Bhike said MMC has auctioned the shops 19 months ago and now MMC has decided to re-auction them by canceling the earlier auction.
"The MMC's move to re-auction the shops is illegal. Injustice will be done against those people who have already got the shops. The re-auction is a conspiracy," alleged Bhike.
One Sameer Pednekar said he had got one municipal shop during the auction. "MMC is doing injustice to me and many people who bought these shops in earlier auction," he added.
"MMC is refusing to refund the Rs 10,000 deposited in MMC and Rs 5,000 given while filing the application. MMC is now also not allowing us to participate in the re auction," claimed Pednekar.
