MAPUSA
Claiming that the Mapusa MLA was failing to take decisions on the city’s development, State Congress general secretary Vijay Bhike said development projects remained dependent on the Chief Minister’s intervention. He was speaking at a news conference organised at the Congress office in Mapusa on Wednesday.
“Ravindra Bhavan, the stalled Mapusa bus stand project and Bardez Bhavan have been in the news for several years, but remain mere announcements. Instead of getting off the ground, these important infrastructure projects remain stuck at the administrative level,” said Bhike.
He questioned the delay in decision-making by the MLA, stating that local representatives needed to take the initiative and meet the expectations of Mapusa’s citizens, traders and youth.
Bhike also criticised Calangute BJP MLA Michael Lobo for his remarks about Congress candidates. “Before the 2022 elections, leaders who visited places of worship and pledged allegiance to the party eventually joined the BJP. In such a situation, Lobo has no moral right to question the party loyalty of others. Mapusa’s citizens need concrete development rather than empty promises,” said Bhike.
Chandan Mandrekar, Feroz Khan, Mitali Gadekar, Salman Khan and Sikander Sawar were also present at the news conference.
