MARGAO
South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Wednesday said he is firm in his stand that the Congress should not forge any alliance with other political parties to fight the 2022 Assembly eleciotn.
He said the party can consider leaving a couple of seats to other parties, where the party has not much presence. The MP, however, said even these few seatS can be left to other parties to contest only on the eve of the ensuing election.
Addressing the media, Sardinha also made it amply clear that the Congress should not have any truck with the people, who joined hands with the BJP after getting elected with the support of the Congress party. “If the 10 MLAs have betrayed the people of Goa by switching sides to the BJP overnight, those who had forged an alliance with the BJP after the 2017 election are equally responsible to prop up the BJP government. Hence, I am of the firm opinion that the Congress should not have trucks with these people in the coming election”, he said.
Saying that political parties will now raise their heads in the state like mushrooms with an eye on the 2022 Assembly election, Sardinha said the people of Goa should know there are only two parties, the Congress and the BJP, which are in a position to form the government. “All these other parties will not be able to form the government because they are not contesting in all the seats”, he said, while accusing the BJP of coming to power in the state in 2017 through the backdoor.
