Congress suspects CM's meet with PM was to forge conspiracy

PANAJI

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar on Sunday expressed suspicions about the real motive behind Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s recent visit to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We suspect that the Chief Minister was called to Delhi to forge some conspiracy to benefit either the neighbouring Karnataka or Crony Capitalist friends of Narendra Modi. The CM should make public what transpired during his meeting with PM Modi four days back,” claimed Chodankar.

Congress has also demanded the release of a white paper with facts and figures concerning the core issues in Goa including Mhadei and other environmental issues.

Meanwhile, GPCC alleged that the visit of Union Minister for Environment and Forest  Prakash Jawadekar in Goa was to divert attention from “some larger conspiracy being worked out by Modi-Sawant for their political benefits”.

Reacting to Jawadekar’s refusal to answer media questions on Mhadei and other environmental issues concerning Goa and passing the buck to CM Sawant, Chodankar further charged, “The deliberate and intentional silence Jawadekar on Mhadei issue and various environmental issues like destruction to Mollem Wildlife Sanctuary, on conversion of Goa into a coal hub to benefit PM Modi's crony club and also about the state government’s insistence on setting up the IIT on cultivable land at Shel-Melaulim has once again brought to light the defects of CM Sawant’s government.”

Responding to Jawadekar’s comment on those opposing farm laws and terming them as “dalals of dalal”,  senior BJP leader Prakash Velip had opposed the bill claiming Goa will lose revenue of Rs nine crores. Chodankar questioned whether Velip would also be labelled similarly by the BJP.
