Govekar was manning traffic at a junction in Colva. At around 9.30 am, he complained of severe pain in his chest after which he was rushed to Hospicio Hospital. His companions later said that the medical officers at the South Goa district hospital suspected that the young constable had suffered a minor cardiac arrest.
It was learnt that Govekar had begun to feel the pain in his chest on Wednesday night and it steadily worsened the next morning.
Govekar was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, on Thursday evening, where his condition was stabilized. He remains under observation.
Meanwhile, senior police officers have urged the citizens to refrain from indulging in rumour mongering through messaging apps and social networking sites during this week, when the heads of all BRICS nations as well as several other neighbouring countries will visit the State.
