As a post mortem examination has revealed that the sewerage contractor, a native of Bihar, who had died at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim died of pulmonary infection due to fracture of the ribs, the Margao police has arrested two persons for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Margao PI Kapil Nayak said the police has arrested Preetesh Chawan (20), resident of Rumdamol and Vilas Naik (21), a resident of Mandopa-Navelim for committing culpable homicide of 48-year-old Suresh Kumar Singh, a native of Bihar at Sinquetim-Navelim. The duo has been booked under section 427, 341 and 304 of the IPC.
PI Kapil said the incident occurred on October 12 at around 8.30 pm at Sinquetim-Navelim when the deceased was allegedly assaulted by the duo after the deceased car brushed them at Navelim market while having fast food at a local kiosk.
The police said the deceased, who was attacked by the duo and his car damaged for reckless driving, was later admitted at the Goa Medical College, Bambolim before he succumbed to his injuries.
Post mortem examination report showed that the deceased had died due to pulmonary infection due to rib fractures caused by a blunt weapon. The police are investigating.
