Residents meet Canacona Dy Collector, seek joint inspection amid fears of improper certification

Residents of Patnem ward in Canacona Municipality met Deputy Collector Prataprao Naik Gaonkar on Friday morning and demanded a joint inspection of the road leading to a mega project in Patnem.
Residents have alleged that a mega project in their area has been passed based on the controversial certification of the width of an existing road leading to the project. They have demanded an inspection by officials of the town planning department and the PWD and local residents.
They have written to the TCP office, Canacona Mamlatdar and Deputy Collector demanding an inspection to ascertain the exact width of the road leading to the mega project in Patnem.
A resident, Anil Phaldesai, brought to the attention of the deputy collector that their demands have been ignored by authorities.
Another resident, Vaibhav Phaldesai, warned that if there is no justice, the people of Patnem should not be blamed if a law and order issue arises when people stage an agitation at the Dy Town Planner Office in Chaudi-Canacona.
Deputy Collector Prataprao Naik Gaonkar is reported to have assured the agitating residents of Patnem that he would write a letter to the office concerned and discuss the issue with the Collector within 24 hours.
