Konkan Railway collected Rs 20.27 crore in 2025 as fines and fare recoveries from unauthorised train passengers. This was done through regular and special ticket checking drives across its entire route to stop ticketless and irregular travel and to ensure safe and comfortable journeys for genuine passengers.

In December 2025 alone, KRCL carried out 998 special ticket checking drives. During these checks, 43,896 unauthorised and irregular passengers were found, and Rs 2.45 crore was collected towards fare and penalties. From January to December 2025, a total of 8,481 special drives were conducted. “These drives led to the detection of 3,68,901 cases of unauthorised or irregular travel, with a total recovery of Rs 20.27 crore as fare and penalties,” KR officials said.

The drives were carried out with the help of Railway Protection Force staff and railway officials at trains and stations across Konkan Railway route. Konkan Railway has urged passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience and fines. It said such drives will continue to ensure safe, orderly and comfortable travel for all genuine passengers.
