MARGAO
As the focus is back on Sonsodo with the High Powered Coordination Committee meeting scheduled on Monday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was the centre of attention on Sunday after he fixed the HPCC meeting on Sonsodo after receiving a call from bete noire and Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai.
A smiling Chief Minister told the media on the sidelines of a sports programme at Fatorda that he has convened the long-pending HPCC meeting after being reminded by Goa Forward chief & Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai.
The Goa Forward chief, on the other hand, acknowledged the Chief Minister’s gesture in urgently calling for the HPCC meeting.
He, however, said the government needs to prepare a roadmap on how to go about addressing the Sonsodo imbroglio.
Scribes apparently sought to know from the Chief Minister whether there was something more than meets the eye after he and the Goa Forward chief publicly spoke over the telephone on Sonsodo and the Chief Minister’s quick action by calling for the meeting without any delay.
The Chief Minister was all in smiles when he replied that he has fixed the HPCC meeting on Sonsodo after the request came from the Fatorda MLA.
“Yes, it’s true that Vijai had called up on Sonsodo. The HPCC meeting was also pending. We have to understand that the High Court is monitoring Sonsodo. The next date of hearing is also coming,” he said.
He added: “The HPCC meeting has not been held for a long time. Someone has to remind about the meeting and Vijai has reminded me and I have called for the meeting on Monday.”
When asked whether there’s any special agenda lined up at the HPCC meeting, the Chief Minister said that all routine issues plaguing Sonsodo will be deliberated and addressed.
