After an initial few sweltering hot days, temperatures in the State seem to be steady with light cool winds blowing during the day. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa department has registered a drop in temperature recording a minimum of 21 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius.
Temperatures next week, however, are expected to increase yet again with a possible maximum of 37 degrees and minimum of 25 degrees Celsius. Earlier in January, the State had registered a record high maximum temperature of 36.8 degree Celsius.
IMD Goa Director M L Sahu said the abnormally high temperatures were as a result of the hot south-easterly winds from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The onset of the north-westerly winds brought the cooler temperatures across this and last week. Forecast for the next two days is also expected to remain within the minimum of 22 degrees Celsius and maximum of 32 degree Celsius.
