PONDA: A 3-year-old boy from West Bengal drowned in Dudhsagar river at Vakikuyan-Shigao on Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred when his labourer parents were working at the irrigation project site in the area.
According to Collem Police, after they received information, they rushed to the site and found that the boy had drowned.
Police has identified the deceased as Sudip Puroshit Kormokar. “According to the parents, the boy was playing with his siblings. Later, when they saw him drowning in the river, they tried to rescue him, but it was futile,” the police on duty said.
The body has been sent to GMC Hospital for post-mortem and Collem Police is investigating the case.
