As the video capturing the brutal murder of history sheeter Hazrat Ali Sheikh alias Tiger Anwar went viral on the social media, Superintendent of Police, Konkan Railway police station, Sammy Tavares recalled that Tiger Anwar had survived a murder bid on his life around six months ago after his intervention at the Arlem Circle, Fatorda on February 16 last.
“After I watched the video showing how Anwar was hacked to death on Sunday, I could recollect that a similar scene had unfolded near the Arlem Circle, when a group of more than five people were in hot pursuit of the history sheeter with a huge koita and iron rods”, he said.
“It appeared that the accused had come to teach the history sheeter a lesson at Arlem. They had already fired a gun-shot at him. And, they were in hot pursuit with a koita and an iron rod”, he said.
Sammy added: “I and my police jeep driver intervened after the victim was being pursued by the group with koita and an iron rod. We stopped the accused from executing the deadly attack on Anwar. It would have ended in a sure murder had we not stopped and intervened”.
Following Anwar’s murder now, SP Sammy Tavares will now be prosecution’s star witness in the attempt to murder case as he is an eye witness to the incident, having allegedly caught two of the accused red-handed.
