The Goa police have pulled out all stops to ensure that there is no untoward incident in view of the overlapping of festivals especially Eid and the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Addressing a press conference, Deputy Inspector General of Police V A Gupta said that an extra force has been deployed in the sensitive areas that have been mapped to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.
"Around the meat complex section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has already been invoked by the district administration while the police is on standby," Gupta said.
"The local police stations are also in touch with the organisers to ensure that law is being followed to ensure that there is no misunderstanding of any kind," he said.
The police have said that the measures they have taken are only precautionary and that there are no specific intelligence inputs over trouble being planned to disrupt the harmony of the state.
The police have also said that robberies during the peak Ganesh season have come down with only one case of theft being reported at Margao during the night.
