VASCO
The Vasco police led by PI Kapil Nayak have begun the investigation into the alleged murder of a 14-month-old baby by her own mother Nimisha Valsan Gone reported at Chicalim on August 6.
Speaking to reporters, Nayak said the father Nilesh Gone, had said his wife, Nimisha, may have been in depression and added that Nimisha was presently admitted to the IPHB.
"We have already taken up the investigation into the case and we have already recorded the statement of the husband Nilesh Gone, P Valsan, the father of Nimisha, and even relatives of the family. Nimisha is presently admitted in the IPHB at Bambolim.”
“The husband, Nilesh Gone, has said Nimisha, who was in Germany, had been in depression ever since the death of her mother who had succumbed to cancer because she could not arrive to Goa for her mother's last rites. He said Nimisha had been behaving weird ever since and may have been under depression. We could not record the statement of Nimisha because she is admitted in IPHB," said Nayak.
It may be recalled that Nimisha Gone has been accused of killing her own 14-month daughter at her father's residence in Chicalim on August 6. Nimisha had later attempted to kill herself by slashing her wrist and jumping off the Zuari bridge but was rescued by staff carrying out work on the new Zuari bridge. She was later handed over to Agassaim police who admitted her to GMC.
Nimisha Gone had reportedly arrived in Goa with her daughter around a week before the shocking incident.
Vasco police have registered an offence against Nimisha under Section 302 and Section 8 of Goa Childrens Act and are carrying out further investigation.
