PANAJI
Panaji police identified the parents of the few days old baby found abandoned on Christmas day in the area between the samadhis of two former Goa chief ministers at Miramar “ Dayanand Bandodkar and Manohar Parrikar “ by pursuing the clue from the ‘delivery tag’ which led them to a government hospital.
Initially when the baby was found the police immediately looked for the CCTV footage for clues. Shockingly the CCTVs installed in the area under the ‘Smart City’ project are yet to be connected either to a DVR or hard disk and the cops could get no footage.
The baby who was spotted by a street sweeper was shifted by the police to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim but they latched on to the ‘delivery tag’ attached to the baby’s body to trace the mother from the government hospital where she delivered the child.
Panaji police, who are conducting further investigations, have declined to identify the government hospital and also refused to say what charges they would book the parents.
