The meeting will mark the culmination of the eight-month long, comprehensive process for selection of candidates set into motion by GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro in May 2016.
The first list of Congress candidates for the upcoming polls to Goa Assembly will be declared by January 12. The last meeting of the 19-member Pradesh Election Committee of Goa Congress was convened on Decemer 21 under the chairmanship of All India Congress Committee general secretary in-charge of Goa Digvijaya Singh.
AICC screening committee chairman Venugopal and members Bhakta Charan Das and Deepak Babaria had attended this meeting in order to get in insight into the mindset of the top leadership of GPCC.
GPCC, which is still reeling from the loss of two sitting MLAs to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party within a matter of one month, has put together around 150 names for
consideration of the screening committee.
