Officials from the Corlim Primary Health Centre along with Azossim-Mandur panchayat authorities conducted a joint inspection on Monday, following largescale dumping of garbage on Azossim communidade land known as Parpoti.
The inspection was held on the basis of a complaint by Ramrao Wagh and villagers of Mandur and Neura.
At the inspection, it was noticed that though fresh garbage dumping activity has stopped in the area, some persons had set afire a large chunk of the waste.
Construction of a cowshed, water tank and other unauthorised activities were also noticed during the inspection.
The complainant, Ramrao Wagh, who was present for the inspection, informed The Goan that based on the inspection report, the Corlim PHC will issue directives to the Azossim-Mandur panchayat to initiate action in the matter.
Present for the inspection were Corlim PHC Sanitary Inspector Santosh Dessai, Azossim-Mandur Deputy Sarpanch Cypriano Alfonso, Panchayat Secretary Babu Naik, and others.
