Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday convened a meeting with Health Secretary Nila Mohanan, Dean S M Bandekar and the Head of Departments of Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim to review the preparedness of the state.
The top officials of Goa’s health services deliberated upon an action plan to stall and eventually combat the spread of this highly contagious virus.
The Health Department has sought to reiterate that all possible containment measures have been adopted at the special OPD created at GMC to handle symptomatic cases of COVID-19. The OPD, which operates round the clock, is overseen by senior consultants.
Health Ministry has extended a fresh assurance that a new state-of-the-art virology laboratory will be set up within a month with high-end equipment to cater to Goa’s testing requirements. Presently, all the samples collected from suspected patients are being forwarded to Kasturba Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Mumbai.
GMC has announced that security guards at every entry and exit point will be provided with sterillium and it was revealed that the department will soon procure additional masks and bottles of sterillium to meet the requirements among its staff.
The hospital and the ambulances will be disinfected regularly to help contain and prevent the spread of any virus or bacteria, the Health Ministry has assured. Restrictions in prisons till March 31
PANAJI: The Centre has issued certain precautionary measures in order to curb the prevailing situation of COVID-19 without any exception.
Prisons Authority has decided to temporarily suspend interviews with the prisoners by their visitors and NGOs who are engaged in reformatory activities in the Prisons till March 31, as a precautionary measure to avoid any possibility of spread of Corona Virus in the Prison.
Further, restrictions and/or regulations beyond March 31 will be notified in pursuance to the directives that may be issued by appropriate authority.
