Goa Government’s General Administration Department (GAD) on  Wednesday issued an office memorandum to all departments, corporations,  autonomous bodies and statutory bodies undertaken by the government  asking them to temporarily exempt all their employees from marking  biometric attendance in Aadhar Based Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS)  till March 31 in view of the mounting worry over the transmission of  the Novel Coronavirus disease.

In its memorandum, the GAD has forwarded  the memo issued by the Union Ministry of Personnel on March 6 which  states that “it is a must to take all possible preventive measures to  stop spread of virus (sic)”.

It has stressed on the need to avoid  touching surfaces, which might be infected due to human touch. The AEBAS  was put in place in Goa earlier this year in a bid to enforce  punctuality among government employees.
