Correia, Noronha complete historic hat-tricks in comunidade elections

In a historic first, the duo of Savio Correia and Celestino Noronha scored a rare hat-trick of victories on Sunday in the ongoing elections for the Managing Committees of Comunidades in South Goa for the triennium year 2025-28.

In the elections to Managing Committee of Comunidade of Davorlim held on Sunday, Savio Correia was elected the President and Celestino Noronha the Attorney.

The duo of Savio Correia and Celestino Noronha completed a rare hat-trick after having been elected to the Managing Committees of Aquem, Dicarpale and now Davorlim.

Incidentally, all eyes are now focussed on the elections to the Margao Comunidade scheduled next Sunday, where the duo is the incumbent President and Attorney. Sources said the Savio-Celestino duo is expected to throw their hats into the ring for another term.

In the election for the Davorlim Comunidade body conducted by Derrick Pereira, UDC in Collectorate of South Goa along with Ubaldina Rodrigues (Escrivão), the following were declared elected: President: Savio Joaquim Filipe Correia.  Attorney: Celestino A B de Noronha and Treasurer: Gino de Piedade Collaço.

They defeated the rival panel comprising of Leoncio Raikar, Roshal Fernandes (sitting President), and Fatima Rocha by a margin of 14 votes (56–42).

The following were declared elected unopposed as substitutes: President Substitute: Mervin J R Leopoldo Cruz. Attorney Substitute: Silvestre Niasso and Treasurer Substitute: Joao Bush Miranda.

Lack of quorum halts elections 
to 5 more comunidade bodies

MARGAO: Election for the managing committees of five more comunidade bodies in South Goa went abegging on Sunday for lack of quorum, taking the total number of comunidade bodies where elections could not be held to 21.

The comunidade bodies where the elections could not take place for lack of quorum on Sunday were Calata, Duncolim and Majorda, in Salcete, besides Arossim in Mormugao and Odar in Sanguem.
