Cortalim Deputy Sarpanch Raymond D’Sa on Thursday said he would soon file a case against former Cortalim sarpanch Senia Pereira with the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), seeking to probe irregularities while she was sarpanch of Cortalim.

“I was supposed to file the case earlier, but I needed some more documents. I will file the case with ACB the moment I get the required documents,” D’Sa said.

Speaking to reporters, D’Sa said during the tenure of Pereira as sarpanch, garbage collection bills were being cleared without putting them up before a general body meeting.

“People are now coming to the panchayat and alleging that she was demanding money. I don’t want to comment much, but yes, I want to say that the garbage collector’s bill was cleared by the former sarpanch without putting it before the general body.”

“Garbage bills were cleared and payment cheques would be passed within one hour of the bill being put up in the inward section.”

“I don’t know what was this urgency to sign and clear cheques within an hour of the bill being given to the panchayat. Even if panchas carry out work, it takes at least 15 days as it has to go on a muster roll and then put up for a general body meeting, before a resolution has to be taken up,” said D’Sa.

Charges baseless, why didn’t he object before, Pereira hits back

VASCO: Claiming that allegations of Cortalim Deputy Sarpanch Raymond D’Sa were baseless, former Cortalim sarpanch Senia Pereira hit back by stating that garbage payments were made as per a resolution proposed by D’Sa himself.

“If I was into illegalities, then D’Sa has to prove it. If I was doing anything wrong as sarpanch, when he was deputy sarpanch, then why did he not object then and stop me or enquire with me then?”

“Garbage payments were made as per the resolution proposed by D’Sa himself. He had proposed that bills have to be cleared every fortnight. The garbage contractor was always pestering us to clear bills immediately as he had to pay daily wages to his labourers. As soon as the garbage contractor entered his bills in muster roles, we would clearly it immediately,” explained Pereira.
