Environment Minister and Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Saturday inaugurated the construction of a road at Thane-Cortalim.
The road, which is being built by PWD at the cost of Rs 2.5 lakh, will benefit 20 households in the area.
In the absence of a tarred road, people from the 20 houses had faced considerable hardship travelling to and from their homes, especially during the monsoons.
Others present at the function included PWD Junior Engineer Marcos Costa and the contractor C V Pereira.
