VASCO
During the joint inspection, Vas met people of the area and put forth their grievances before the railway authorities.
Vas also personally asked railway officials to measure the proposed area of laying of double tracking to assess the proximity of the houses.
Vas later directed the railway officials to attend a joint meeting with Dy Collector, Panchayat and locals to address the issues of the locals.
"There was a noise over double tracking on Friday and I have personally come at the site to understand the issues and carry out a joint inspection at the request of social worker Roquezinho D'Souza and panch members,” said Vas.
“There are many issues like access road to traditional houses and proximity of proposed tracks to houses. I want to find a solution to these major issues and as MLA, I have decided to convene a joint meeting with the Dy Collector, railway authorities, Velsao Panchayat and locals to address the issues.”
“I have spoken to railway officials and they have said that they are willing to give access to house and private land properties. After the joint meeting, I will put forth the major grievances to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, so that the issue can be further discussed at the government level," said the MLA.
Railway authority incharge Sadashivan said the railways was ready to listen to the people and find solutions while the double tracking was being taken up.
“Till date, not a single person has approached the railways with the issues of the people nor called us for any discussion. Cortalim MLA Anton Vas came here and explained to us all the issues of the people and he has now asked us to attend a joint meeting with the dy collector and locals along with Velsao Panchayat members.”
“We will listen to the issues of the people and find a solution to their issue and we can also see how best we can benefit the locals while carrying out the double-tracking project. We are willing to listen to the demands of the people and we can decide further after the joint meeting with the MLA and Dy Collector," said Sadashivan.
