Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Friday said the existing police outpost at Cortalim would be moved to the new Cortalim market complex.
Speaking to reporters, Saldanha said premises had been allotted for the police outpost in the newly built market complex.
"We are meeting the Cortalim panchayat and a meeting will be convened to take a decision in the matter. I have already informed the panchayat and Sarpanch Senia Pereira to get the market premises cleaned.”
“I have been informed that the cleaning is underway in the new market complex at the moment. After the panchayat takes a decision at its meeting, we will inform the Goa Police that they can shift the Cortalim police outpost to the new market complex," said Saldanha.
The Cortalim MLA said the first stage is to shift government offices to the new market complex.
“I am glad that this will happen very soon. I am aware there is a lot of waterlogging at the existing Cortalim police outpost, causing inconvenience to the police and locals. But this will be a thing of the past when the Cortalim police outpost is shifted to the new market complex," said Saldanha.
