The countdown has begun for the July 8 hearing of the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) for South Goa as the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has moved the South Goa district Collector, South for exemption in respect of the National Security Act (NSA) and implementation of Section 144 order during the period of the public hearing.
The GCZMA has also moved an application to the South Collector to exemption in the SOP on the day of the hearing.
GCZMA Member Secretary Dashrath Redkar told The Goan that the application has been made to the South Goa district Collector to ensure that the NSA and the order under Section 144 of the Cr P C does not come in the way of the public hearing scheduled on July 8.
“We have to move the application before the South Goa Collector as the NSA was invoked by the government in South Goa last month. Since the NSA has come into force in South Goa district, we have moved the application for an exemption so that the provisions of the NSA does not come in the way of the public hearing”, he said.
Similarly, Redkar said that the GCZMA has moved an application before the Collector for exemption in the implementation of Section 144 order on the day of the hearing.
On the question of the Covid SOP in force, the GCZMA Member Secretary said the agency has moved the district authorities for exemption in the SOP, even as officials in private pointed out that the SOP may change after July 5 when the government is expected to review the Covid restrictions in the State.
On the arrangements being put in place for the hearing, Redkar informed that the SGDPA parking lot will be covered to make a provision for a seating capacity for 5,000 persons. “We are working out the logistics, including the parking arrangements and the same will be put in place before the hearing”, he added.
