MARGAO
In an interesting development, the South Goa Sessions Court on Friday gave interim relief to the accused in the Curchorem sexual assault case Sohan Naik barring the police from arresting the accused till the hearing of the matter next week.

The accused had filed an anticipatory bail application before the South Goa Sessions Court in an alleged rape case wherein the police has not yet taken him into custody.

When the matter came up for hearing on Friday, an officer of the Crime Branch made a submission that the investigating agency needs time to file its reply to the anticipatory bail plea.

At this juncture, the defence lawyer Adv Amay Prabhudesai submitted before the Court that he has no problem if the investigating agency is seeking time to file reply to the anticipatory bail plea. Adv Prabhudesai, however, made a submission that his client should not be arrested till the next hearing scheduled on April 26, a plea which was granted by the Court.
