At the same time, the court also dropped the charges for offences under Section 201 and 468 of IPC. The court also absolved Dr Shridhar of
all charges.
Earlier, the High Court had absolved the suspects from offences under the Children’ Protection Act.
It may be recalled that the deceased Raveena was admitted to a nursing home in Vasco where she was operateed upon on 3 July, 2010. As her condition deteriorated after the surgery, she was shifted to GMC, Bambolim where she had breathed her last on 29 July, 2010.
Harbouring doubts about her death, her family members had raised their voice and had expressed apprehensions about the treatment received by the deceased.
In response to this, the Goa government had constituted a committee which had indicted a section of the doctors with negligence and had recommended action in
this regard.
Based on the recommendations of the committee, her parents had lodged a police complaint in the year 2011. JMFC, Vasco had then directed the police to register a complaint in this matter.
