Courts to begin physical hearings from August 2

The Courts in the South Goa District will start regular physical functioning as were functioning during the pre-pandemic days, with 100 per cent attendance of Judicial Officers and 100 per cent attendance of staff from August 2.

A circular issued by Principal District and Sessions Judge, South Goa Irshad Agha will come into force from August 2 and will remain in force until further orders.

As per the circular, all the Bar Rooms and Canteens shall remain open.

The circular stated that if the Principal District and Sessions Judges/ Head of the Establishments come across any single breach of any Covid-19 protocol, he may close down such Bar Room/s or Canteen/s.

It stated that in the District and Subordinate Courts in the South Goa District, only those advocates, witnesses, accused persons and party- in-persons whose matters are listed on that day’s board or whose presence is required by the Court for any specific purpose like verification etc will be permitted to have access in the Court building. No one should enter the Court halls unless their matter is called out and shall leave the Court premises as soon as hearing of their case/ work is over, it added.

“All the safety/precautionary measures set forth by the Central/ State Government and all Covid-19 appropriate behaviour/ protocols to be followed scrupulously”, the circular added.

The circular comes in the wake of a circular issued by the High Court of Bombay on Thursday after taking into account present situation of Covid-19 cases and the views of stakeholders.
