“The Covid Care Centre was set up following directives of the deputy collector and Dr Medha Salkar and her team have fully supported this service. The number of patients in Bicholim is increasing and there is a dire need for a Covid treatment centre,” said Pandit.
“Patients will receive primary health facilities at this centre under the supervision of Dr Shekhar Salkar, Dr Palav and Dr Medha Salkar. Ten oxygen beds have been provided for now and it will be increased to 20 in due course,” he said.
With facilities being set up at the school, it will be easier for patients in Bicholim and surrounding areas to avail of treatment closer to their homes.
Last year during the first Covid wave, the school was used as a centre for Covid patients and later as an isolation centre.
