Covid death toll reaches 376 as eight more lose their lives

536 new cases detected; active tally @ 5,646; total count nears 30,000

Covid death toll in the state touched 376 with eight more losing the battle with the disease. The deceased persons include Goa’s former Deputy Speaker Simon D’Souza (81).

While five deaths were reported at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, three persons died at ESI Covid Hospital in Margao.

Among the deceased is a 75-year-old woman from Old Goa, a 77-year-old man from Aldona, a 74-year-old man from Chorao, a 49-year-old man from Ponda, a 76-year-old woman from Vasco, 50-year-old man from Aquem and a 55-year-old woman from Malbhat in Margao.

A total of 536 new cases of the infection were detected in Goa in the last 24 hours taking the active tally to 5,646 and the total number of cases to 29,879. Of these, 23,857 patients have recovered with the recovery rate being pegged at 79.84 per cent.
