Manipal State's first hospital to have NABL accredited lab

Manipal Hospital, Goa, one of the leading multi-specialty hospital in Goa, announced that it has received the accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), thus becoming the State’s first and only multi-specialty hospital to achieve NABL Accreditation for Molecular Testing in its Medical Laboratory. 

National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) is a Constituent Board of Quality Council of India that has been established to provide a third-party assessment of the quality and technical competence of testing and calibration laboratories with very stringent internal and external quality control parameters. 

Dr Ashwini Kshirsagar, Head of Laboratory at Manipal Hospitals Goa said, “The lab at Manipal Hospitals Goa is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and infrastructure to attain the highest degree of precision, efficiency, and accuracy when it comes to providing results and delivering quality healthcare services.”

Dr Marzook Shaikh, Head of Molecular Testing at the Manipal Hospitals Goa laboratory said, “The inspection was carried out in the month of August 2020 by the NABL team which evaluated us based on the parameters of ISO 15189: 2012 Medical Laboratories- Requirements for quality and competence. We have already started performing Antigen test and True NAT COVID 19 test with the approval of NABL, ICMR and DHS.”

Manish Trivedi, Hospital Director, Manipal Hospitals Goa said, “We are delighted to receive this certification and would like to congratulate the entire team on this recognition. Manipal Hospital has been adhering to good quality and has received the NABH accreditation before, NABL accreditation acknowledges the quality standard maintained during the testing processes adopted in Molecular testing of its laboratory."
