The resumption of physical classes for standard X and XII students has begun hitting air-pockets regularly and a school in suburban South Goa reported a student testing positive for Covid-19 a day after two schools in North Goa suspended classes with teachers getting infected.
A standard XII student from a Curchorem Higher Secondary School was reported as contracting the virus on Wednesday.
Earlier this week on Monday and Tuesday one teacher each from High Schools in Usgao and Cujira tested positive and the two institutions in North Goa were directed to suspend the physical classes.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said teachers who have members of their family testing positive for the coronavirus should abstain from taking physical classes.
Sawant said in cases where family members test positive, the teachers should not attend their schools at least until their recommended home isolation tenure ends.
Sawant told journalists in the capital that no teacher should be called to the schools at times when someone from their family has tested positive.
Meanwhile, Sawant ruled out resumption of physical classes for students in grade nine and eleven.
"No decision has been taken as yet on resuming teaching for students of Class IX and Class XI. It has been put on hold," Sawant said, adding that classes were permitted for Class X and XII to enable the students to prepare for their crucial board examinations.
