"I am willing to support by giving incentives which is across the board in terms of FAR and coverage to solve expansion problems if industrialists can assure me of generating employment for Goan youth," said Sardessai at the AGM of VIA.
The AGM was held at Kesarval Garden Retreat with Sardesai as the chief guest and GIDC Chairman Glenn Ticlo as guest of honour. .
Speaking further, Sardessai assured to create dedicated transport and provide special buses on shift change timings if VIA gives a concrete proposal to create employment for Goan youth from across the State.
"December 19 was set as a deadline to shunt off bureaucratic harassment and red tapism in the industry and to put corrective system in place after a stakeholder of VIA publicly fell at the feet of the minister seeking justice to attain occupancy which was denied to him for about 20 years," he said.
He further said certain provision of the Factories Act could be used to ensure that labour employed by contractor would be locals and that they stay in habitable conditions and prevent locals from working for a shift of 12
hours as informed by some members.
"Goa is one of the most over employed state in terms of government jobs and there is a lot of privatisation happening. Since government jobs cannot be further offered on a large scale, VIA can create huge job opportunities for Goan youth."
Citing that the recent judgement cannot be ignored, Sardessai informed that Goa environment needs to be protected while industries are growing and hence pollution creating industries cannot be offered a red carpet by the government.
Ticlo said it was six months after he had taken over as GIDC chairman and several people had approached him on a regular basis with various issues. "To invite more industries, we have to provide suitable facilities and business is not an easy task and faces a lot of hurdles and problem and I could understand the issues as I am a businessman."
"I assure to resolve all the issues and take the industries in Goa to a different level. I will see to it that industries flourish and I seek your cooperation to help me achieve it," he added.
Industrialist Nitin Kunkolienkar informed that VIA completed 21 years of existence and was one of the
most flourishing industrial estates of Goa.
