Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão has called for both the government and the church to "create a space of trust and truthfulness" whilst imploring that the "task for all of us to make peace, harmony and genuine freedom come true in the life of every citizen in our country."
Speaking during the civic reception he hosted on behalf of the Church in Goa for leaders of government -- both state and central -- the archbishop has said that the spirit of the world being one family was the spirit of Christmas.
"All of us here are people with a heavy social responsibility on our shoulders: the Government, to begin with, the public authorities and the Church. The people look up to us for orientation, guidance and good governance. And we owe it to the people," Bp Ferrão said in his address.
