The Goa Unit of the Conference of Religious India (CRI) has raised its strong and collective voice against the shocking attack and unjust arrest of Sr Preethi Mary and Sr Vandana Francis in Chhattisgarh.
“While we are relieved that bail has now been granted and our Sisters are no longer detained, we remain concerned about the injustice meted out to them and the distress caused,” said CRI (Goa Unit) President Sr Flory Rodrigues in a statement.
Sr Rodrigues said the suffering faced by Sr Preethi Mary and Sr Vandana Francis is a painful reminder of the challenges that those who serve selflessly may endure.
“We remain deeply pained by the baseless allegations levelled against these two dedicated nuns, who have devoted their lives to uplifting the marginalised through education, healthcare, and faith. Acts of this nature are affronts to the very foundations of justice, humanity, and religious freedom enshrined in our Constitution,” she said.
“The Religious of Goa unite to decry these shameful actions, which threaten not only the harmony and peace of our society but also the sanctity of selfless service. At this hour, we continue to stand in total solidarity with our Sisters and all who work for justice and compassion.”
Sr Rodrigues has called upon all people of goodwill, especially the faithful, to join in fervent prayer for the Sisters’ continued safety, for their vindication, and for the restoration of justice and peace.
“Let our voices and prayers rise together, demanding accountability and respect for those who serve with integrity. May the light of truth prevail over falsehood, and may God grant continued courage to the victimised, wisdom to authorities, and healing to our wounded society,” she added.
