The Bombay High Court at Goa on Wednesday took an undertaking on behalf of a project proponent that he would demolish a concrete embankment and structure that he set up right along the banks of the River Sal at Cavelossim and undertook that he would not take up any further development without any permissions from the authorities.
A complaint of illegal construction in violation of the CRZ norms was filed via a plea before the High Court alleging that there was no action against the illegal construction despite complaints.
“A complaint was filed alleging that the structure was set up without any permissions from the authorities in a CRZ zone. The alleged violator has given an undertaking before the High Court that he will demolish the structure and if he is to set up shacks along the river he will do so after applying for permissions,” Advocate General Devidas Pangam, said.
The High Court on Tuesday had taken suo moto cognisance of the presence of illegal structures at Girikar wada in Arambol after the village sarpanch informed the court that there were 179 structures that were being used for commercial purposes.
