Polling for the by-election for the Ward No. 10 of Cuncolim Municipal Council registered voter turnout of 72.45 per cent on Sunday.
Similarly, the by-election for the Ward No. II of Sao Jose de Areal panchayat saw a voter turnout of 74.33 per cent.
Counting of votes will be taken up at the office of Salcete Mamlatdar Vimod Dalal on Monday at 8 am.
By-poll for Ward No. 10 of the Cuncolim Municipal Council was necessitated following the demise of councillor late Rahul Desai. The two candidates in the fray, former two-time councillor Premdeep Desai and Mariano Soares have exuded confidence of wining the polls.
Of the total 760 voters who cast their votes in the by-poll, 425 were females and 335 males.
Meanwhile, for the by-poll for Ward No. II of Areal panchayat, around 530 voters turned up to cast their ballots. Female outnumber males at the polling booth. Of the 530 voters who cast their vote, 280 voters were females and 250 males.
